READING IS A TREASURE!!!
"There is more treasure in books than in all the pirates' loot on Treasure Island." - Walt Disney
We are excited to announce the FIRST annual Deerfield School Read-A-Thon!
The goal of the 2020 Read-A-Thon is to promote a LOVE of reading in our children, while at the same time allowing the students, themselves, to raise funds to help their school and other children across NJ without the same access to books. The Read-A-Thon is a fantastic excuse to encourage your child to read and to take part in helping his/her school. Parents, families and friends will be able to pledge support for individual student's reading efforts and the students will take pride and ownership in working toward a common goal. Success depends on the involvement of every student – our goal is 100% participation.
(**Updated Recording Log for 2 week extension **.)
2020 READ-A-THON FUNDRAISING
- Funds raised from the 2020 Read-A-Thon will go towards the a PTO Sponsored Mural Project.
- A portion of the money raised will go to the Interfaith Food Pantry of the Oranges to help fill the bookshelves of the children it serves.
READ-A-THON RULES
- Students should use the Sponsorship Form to document sponsors and how much they pledge.
- Students should start recording their daily reading minutes on the Minute Recording Log beginning on Monday, March 2nd.
- Reading during school does not count except during specific times during a DEARfield Day (Drop Everything And Read).
- Parents must sign the Reading Log daily to confirm that their child read all their minutes logged. This will help ensure that an accurate account of the number of minutes read. We count on every Deerfield family using the honor system.
- Total minutes must be calculated and recorded on the Minute Recording Log in order for the student to be eligible to enter the raffle for the individual prize.
READ-A-THON TIMELINE
