General PTO Information
PTO Membership
We urge everyone to join the PTO. Because of the funds that we raise and our parent volunteers, the PTO provides our children with activities and educational benefits that they would not otherwise enjoy. Dues are $30 per family. You will not have full access to the PTO website or newsletters or be able to sign up for any of the many programs (i.e. lunch, ASEs, class parent, etc.) and events we have, without paying your dues. Please go to deerfieldpto.membershiptoolkit.com to join. (Registration opens August 1st).
Class Dues
Class parents will collect $40 per child at Back to School Night in September. Part of the class dues provide for the parties that are planned throughout the year (Halloween, December holidays, and end of the year) as well as holiday and end of year gifts for the teacher. Ten dollars is spent to create a class raffle basket for the Strawberry Festival.
PTO Lunch Program
The PTO offers a 5-day lunch program run by LunchSmile and a pasta and pizza day that parents may purchase for their children. The lunch program provides a convenient service to Deerfield families and is also one of the PTO’s primary fundraisers. Food ordering will be available in early September and lunches are scheduled to begin in mid-September.
Library Legacy Books
Library Legacy Books are a great way to celebrate your child and contribute to Deerfield’s library! You can make a donation that allows you to purchase a “legacy book” for the library in his or her honor. You will receive information regarding this program in the fall. If you elect to participate, your child will then be invited to the media center to select a book from the inventory of new books. His or her name will be inscribed on a sticker to be placed in the front of the book. Your child will be the first to borrow the book.
After School Enrichment (ASE)
The After School Enrichment program is a semester-long series of classes offered in the fall and winter. A variety of classes are presented that cover a wide range of interests and grade levels. In person classes will meet once a week at Deerfield immediately after school from 3:15-4:15pm. Some classes will be offered virtually beginning at 4:00pm.
Online enrollment begins in September for the fall classes and in early January for the winter classes. Please keep an eye out for emails through the weekly Bulldog newsletter which is for registered PTO members only. A supervisor monitors each child’s arrival and dismissal from the program. Parents or caregivers must enter the school to pick up their children and sign them out at 4:15pm. No child is permitted to leave the building unaccompanied by an adult.
Strawberry Festival
The 2025 Strawberry Festival is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7th (rain date: Thursday, May 8th). It is a fun carnival with games, rides, raffles, prizes, and food, and it is one of the PTO’s largest fundraisers. Planning for the festival begins the prior summer and requires a significant amount of volunteer time and effort. Our goal is to have 100% of the Deerfield families participate as volunteers. Throughout the year, you will receive notices and information about how you can help contribute to the success of this event.
School Yearbook
Each year the PTO yearbook committee plans and creates the Deerfield Elementary Yearbook. Pictures of all grades and classes are included in the yearbook, as well as school activities that take place throughout the year. Yearbooks go on sale in March and will be delivered to students in June.
Deerfield Spirit Wear and Swag
The PTO offers a variety of Deerfield embossed clothing and other items that are perfect for showing your school pride and for wearing on Deerfield Spirit Days that occur multiple times during the year. Online ordering is available two times per year, so don’t miss it! Deerfield swag will also be sold at various events so your bulldog can show their spirit to the fullest.
